Treasure Hill

1st Jimmy Carr (17) 30 points

2nd  Les Hall (23) 30 points

3rd Steve Durey (29)

Near Pins Steve Durey X 2, Jimmy Carr, Mark Stanley

Treasure Hill was the venue for today’s round with a round dozen players in action. The course in its usual fine condition but still no easier. Play was a bit slow over the front nine, nonetheless, the round was completed in good time. Today the weather played no part in the proceedings and the usual irritating fruit flies were not seen, nonetheless, scoring was on the low side. Jimmy Carr managed to gather himself up after a little mental disintegration on the front nine and collect first place with a very modest thirty points beating Les Hall into second on countback. Steve Durey took third as well as two near pins, the remaining two went to Jimmy Carr and Mark Stanley.

Pleasant Valley

1st Neil Carter ( 13) 38 points

2nd Alan Sullivan (16) 38 points

3rd Geoff Parker (13) 37 points

Near pins Neil Carter, Jimmy Carr, and Tony Robbins X 2

The last round of the month was played at the Pleasant Valley course where once again rain interrupted the round necessitating thirty minutes spent in shelter. This is a course that seems to be in continual upgrade mode, everywhere you look work is being done to improve the course. Night lights have already been installed, cart paths are being installed or upgraded, and much returfing is underway. One of the drawbacks of the course is poor drainage as the water from storms seems to sit on the course and not drain away as in other courses.

As any one of five players could win golfer of the month going into today’s game the heat was on from the start with much to play for. Neil Carter took first place with thirty-eight points from Alan Sullivan on countback with third going to Geoff Parker a point adrift. Near pins went to Neil Carter, Jimmy Carr, and two to Tony Robbins who is still finding his feet after a long layoff but obviously not far away from joining the winner’s list.

In the race for golfer of the month, remarkably three players finished on fifty-one points and had to be separated by a very complex countback system. In the end, Geoff Parker was declared the winner shading it from Jimmy Carr in second place and Neil Carter in third.

1st Geoff Cox (19) 37 points

2nd Alan Sullivan (16) 33 points

3rd Les Cobban (8) 31 points

Near pins Geoff Cox, Les Cobban, Jimmy Carr, Steve Durey.

In golf as in life itself, timing is everything and so it was today at Kings Naga. Had we teed off at our scheduled time we would have been comfortably ensconced in the clubhouse waiting for a storm to pass. As it was we teed off early and by the second hole, we were running for shelter with lashing rain which lasted thirty minutes. When the rain cleared the course was sodden due to the compacted nature of the soil and poor drainage of the course. Casual water was everywhere and there was no run and balls plugged everywhere. To add to the challenge the greens were in need of mowing and very slow. None of these affected Geoff Cox henceforth known as Lazarus after his speedy recovery from a nasty bout of Dengue fever. Geoff took it all in his stride to record a very nice round of thirty-seven. If this is an example of what Dengue fever does for your golf game people will soon be asking, where can I catch it. Four points adrift Alan Sullivan took second place with Les Cobban a further two back. Near pins were shared between Geoff Cox, Les Cobban, Jimmy Carr, and Steve Durey.
